Data protection should be more flexible. As you may have noticed, we are not your typical parking service provider. We work to reduce time-consuming friction when parking or managing online. Just as we manage your privacy, data protection needs to be simple and secure. Today's world is complex and confusing enough as it is. We're not here to add to it.
Good experiences should not come at the expense of your privacy. Your personal information helps us provide you with an intuitive, fast and automated experience, so you can stop worrying about how long it takes to park and spend more time doing the things you love.
We understand that your personal data is... well, your personal data. And when it comes to understanding our privacy standards, how we collect, use and store your data, and how you can customize your user experience, we like to make it as easy as possible.
We always strive to inform you about how we use personal data. Therefore, the purpose of this page is to provide you with a useful and simple overview of how we handle personal data, in addition to our more comprehensive data protection information.
When you share your data with us, we know you trust us to use it properly. As a financial institution, we have to comply with a number of data handling rules. We take this very seriously and always have your interests in mind when following these rules.
When it comes to trust, we know it's not enough to give you our word. That's why we're constantly working to introduce new ways to keep your data safe through our advanced security system, and to offer you the right support if you have any questions about data protection.
We know your time is valuable, so we've summarised some of the key points from our data protection information in the following section.
The types of personal data we use
When you use Parkit, we receive your personal data in two ways: there is personal data that you provide yourself when you interact with us, and personal data that we collect about you from various sources (e.g. partners, property owners or the company you work for).
Personal data that you share with us may include, for example
Your contact and identification details - we need this information in order to
, for example, confirm your identity, offer you support or carry out a credit assessment before granting you credit.
Your payment information - we need this information to carry out transactions, for example.
The personal data we collect about you may, for example, relate to
Name, date of birth, place of birth and financial information - for example, to prevent fraud, confirm your identity or check your information against lists of so-called "politically exposed persons".
Information about how you interact with Parkit - This may include information about how you use our service or your history with Parkit, which we use to tailor our products to you, offer you support or make assessments before granting you credit.
As we are continuously working to enhance your parking experience, we may use your data for several reasons, such as;
As mentioned above, we believe that using your data should improve your everyday life. Below are some examples of how sharing certain personal data with us will benefit you:
Parking with Parkit: When you use any of the "park now", "book a permit", "rent a space" services or want to apply for our Parkit permit, or use our one-off permit (available in the app), we perform a credit check internally and via third parties. We also collect your contact and identification details and information about the interaction between you and Parkit. This allows us to better understand your needs, circumstances and what services and products we are able to offer you in order to provide you with the best options.
Auto-fill: when you decide to buy something, we offer you the possibility to save your contact, identification and payment details, so you don't have to add them manually every time you make a purchase. You can opt out of this feature in the "auto-fill" settings when you register your address at checkout or by filling out this form.
The Parkit app: when you use the Parkit app through the mobile app or the web portal, we may collect information about your interactions with the app, your previous purchases, your transactions through bank cards you have connected, and things you have previously liked or chosen to add to your Parkit app. This allows us to improve our app experience and offer you a more personalized user experience, such as the ability to track your locations, alert you to price reductions for items you have selected, remind you of upcoming payments, or provide you with a personalized parking overview.
Support: in order to provide you with effective and personalised support, we collect your contact and identification details and a record of previous calls. We do this in order to follow up on your queries and help you more quickly.
Secure parking: when you use Parkit's services, we collect your contact and identification information, payment and financial information, device information, information about goods and services, and information about how you interact with Parkit or its partners, in order to protect you against fraud and prevent money laundering attempts. We do this so that you can feel safe using Parkit, and so that we can be sure that you are who you say you are when you manage your finances.
Communications and offers: if you have used Parkit in the past, we may also collect contact and identification details, information about previous purchases and previous conversations with our customer service team, and device information. We do this in order to reach out to you regarding new offers, as well as to inform you of products and updates that you may be interested in. You can easily unsubscribe and customize your user experience by following the steps below.
There are a number of ways you can control the information we collect and how we use it.
Auto-fill: In the Parkit app, you can opt out of the feature that automatically fills in relevant information when you make future purchases. You can opt out of this feature in the "auto-fill" settings when you enter your address at checkout or by reading more in the support section further down the page.
Marketing communications: to unsubscribe from marketing communications, simply click on the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of each email. You can also contact us by email and indicate that you wish to opt out of receiving marketing mailings. For all contact information, please see the support section below.
Identification: you can customise how you want us to verify your identity before each purchase in the Parkit app. Go to the Parkit app and select "settings"/"data and security"

Correcting inaccurate or incomplete information about yourself - If you perceive information referring to you to be inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that the information be corrected or completed. If you wish to make such changes, you may contact us via our 24-hour chat or our support team with your request.
Discontinue a product, service or your entire relationship with Parkit - You can easily manage or discontinue most of our products and services directly in the Parkit app. By cancelling a product or service, you thereby terminate the associated terms and conditions. Request erasure of your personal data - You have the right to request the erasure of any personal data that Parkit is not obliged to keep. Please note that in this case, for example, you will not receive any marketing material from us, nor will you be able to log in to our web portal or mobile app once this process has been completed. If you would like to request the deletion of your personal data, please see the support section below.
For example, if you want to restrict specific information that you share with us, you can always opt out of marketing mailings, (see section "How you can control what information we collect and how we use it") or remove certain products or services you have used (see section "Terminating a product, service or your entire relationship with Parkit").
Retention of certain data
Please note that there may be cases where access to data or the right to delete specific information may be restricted. For example, as a business we are required by law to retain certain data, for example for the purposes of preventing money laundering. In addition to legal requirements, we may also retain certain information to protect both you and us, such as for anti-fraud purposes.
Identification before you can access or have data deleted
In order to exercise your right to have your data deleted or your right to access your personal data, Parkit must identify you through, for example, your identification details and information to which only you can have access. As a measure against accidentally disclosing or deleting personal data in error, we will always need to ensure that you first identify yourself correctly. Please note that we may not work with third parties, such as a post office, for this identification to take place.
Depending on the service you want to use, we may need to share some of your data with a selected number of third parties, such as partners (cloud computing platforms, payment service providers or online retail platforms) or public authorities. This is necessary, for example, to enable us to store your data securely, to process your purchases and to complete transactions, to comply with regulatory requirements, to prevent fraud, to carry out credit risk assessments or to communicate with you via a platform other than the Parkit platform (e.g. Facebook or Twitter). For more detailed information on which recipients this may affect, please see our full data protection notice.
Compliance
When you choose to share your data with us, we know you trust us to use it properly. Using it properly means not only keeping your best interests in mind, but also complying with applicable laws and requirements. And when it comes to how and when we use your data, there are many rules that apply. A recent example includes complying with the GDPR (EU Data Protection Regulation), a law that regulates data protection and privacy for all individuals in the EU.
As a company, we also have to comply with a number of additional rules, such as what we can do when granting credit, how we can help prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, and much more. These rules sometimes require us to keep certain information or share information with authorities when we are ordered to do so.
We take this responsibility very seriously and always work to keep your best interests in mind when assessing how best to comply with these rules.
We are investing heavily in our advanced security system that continuously monitors our systems to report any suspicious activity. When you use Parkit, it's important to know that before we even start creating our products, we put a lot of work into evaluating potential risks and designing the necessary measures to make sure you stay safe. Of course, we encrypt your data whenever possible, while ensuring that only the right people have access. As a company, we also undergo regular analysis of the security measures we have in place.
