FAQ

If you have parked in the wrong place or not followed the rules of the area, you may be fined. The parking attendant will then place a yellow inspection charge on your vehicle. The signs where you park will inform you of the parking rules. Parking fines are issued to ensure compliance with the parking rules, so that we can contribute to a safe and trafficable environment for customers and visitors.

I have received an inspection fee (fine) although I have paid. Why?

One reason for receiving an inspection fee despite having paid via the app is that the wrong registration number has been entered. Where can I park with my active ticket? Is my ticket valid in all Parkit areas?

A ticket is only valid in the zone in which the ticket was started. If you need to change to another car park that has a different zone code, a new car park must be started for the zone you are parking in.

The car park I'm in is not in the app. Why is this?

This may be because you are in a new Parkit area and therefore have not been added as a payment method directly in the app. We are continually adding our new areas but in the meantime we refer to existing payment methods on site.

Control fee

Is it also allowed to charge for unpaid parking fees?

No, the landowner only has the right to charge the inspection fee.

How many inspection fees can a car receive?

A new inspection fee may be charged for each day of non-compliance. At least six hours must elapse from the issuing of a demand for payment before a further one may be issued. In total, a maximum of five control fees may be issued on the vehicle.

What fee can be charged?

You may charge up to the amount charged by the relevant local authority for parking fines. This fee varies between municipalities, so you need to contact your municipality to see what fee applies there. It is worth noting that municipalities may have different charges for different parts of the municipality. So be sure to use the charge that applies in your area.

What is the difference between the parking fee and the control fee?

Parking fines are governed by a different law, the Parking Fines Act (1976:206), and refer to parking on the street. The control fee applies to parking on land, and is normally what concerns private landowners. Normally it can be said that only the municipality issues parking fines.

Are any special signs needed to charge a control fee?

It does. Inspection fees may only be charged if parking bans or parking conditions have been clearly communicated by signs in the area. The law is clear, signs must meet road marking standards. Simple plastic signs and the like are not permitted.

Generally speaking, there are two basic scenarios regarding the signage surrounding the issuance of a control fee. In one case, the intention is to generally prohibit parking in an area apart from a few possible exceptions who may park there. In the second case, it concerns an area which is to be considered as a parking space, but where a parking fine can be issued when unauthorised persons have parked or not paid the parking fee.

What is required to issue an inspection fee?

A landowner may choose to dedicate an area for parking, or prohibit parking within the area. If any person violates the regulations decided by the landowner, the landowner has the right to issue an inspection fee.

What applies to the issuing of a control fee can be found in the Act (1984:318) on control fees for unauthorised parking.

What counts as a parking error?

Parking in the wrong place means that a vehicle is parked in violation of the parking regulations in force on the site. The rules must be clearly signposted for the area or place where you are standing.

What happens if you don't pay a P-bot on time?

Refusing to pay a parking fine is not in itself a criminal offence. If someone refuses to pay such a charge, he or she is instead given an injunction to pay; if the injunction is not complied with, the claim for payment is handed over to the Enforcement Authority, which collects the debt. Provided that the inspection fee is not appealed or suspended.

When to pay a P-bot?

It is always the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle in question to ensure that the fee is paid.
Please note that you should never pay an inspection fee if you think it is incorrect!
Payment must be made within 8 days of the parking notice being issued, after which a reminder will be sent to the owner's registered address.
