Kvarnholmen is a district where old meets new in an excellent way, and with a history of milling and baking, the district still has many historic buildings that have been integrated with new buildings. From being a relatively forgotten part of Stockholm, Kvarnholmen has been transformed into a vibrant neighbourhood with over 3,500 homes and 1,000 workplaces. The development, combined with its fantastic location at the entrance to Stockholm and a mile-wide view of Djurgården, Stockholm's inlet and the city centre, has contributed to making Kvarnholmen one of the most attractive neighbourhoods in Stockholm today.

The expansion of Kvarnholmen is taking place through several sub-projects, and some of the major challenges have been to find a solution to the current parking shortage, time-consuming permit parking, lack of flexibility in changing parking/rules due to current construction, and to smoothly plan, optimize and prepare for charging infrastructure.
With many key points in the parking area not currently established, Parkit has been twisting and turning to find smooth and cost-effective solutions, especially with ongoing construction in large parts of the district. To meet the needs of the client, Parkit has focused on four main areas; charging infrastructure, parking signage, and proposing and implementing areas of improvement.
Design and install charging infrastructure
The use of electric and rechargeable cars has increased significantly in Sweden in recent years. In the modern Kvarnholmen district, we will work with the landowner to design, optimise and install charging infrastructure from scratch to meet the needs of both residents and visitors. Our new charging stations with built-in retina displays will then be available in all parking areas.
Optimize and clarify signage
Clear parking signs make it easy for visitors and residents to park in the area. Optimised signage also avoids misunderstandings, which results in a pleasant experience and, in the long run, profitability. At Kvarnholmen, Parkit will optimize and clarify all aspects of parking signage.
Collect statistics for the area and make suggestions for improvement
In order to better understand the challenges and opportunities of the area, we have been observing and recording the use of the car parks for some time. Based on our observations, we have subsequently developed a number of improvement proposals to optimise and maximise the number of parking spaces in the spaces we have available, in order to provide residents and visitors with better parking options.
Parkit goes live with the design of the parking lot at Kvarnholmen from the turn of the year 2022/2023. Many thanks for the trust!
